My paintings sift and explore the relationships between line and pattern, colour, music ... or silence, and contemplation. Texture and layers of colour are drawn together to provide a rich visual palette that speaks of liminal space, an invitation to rest, to connect with that deeper level within and to allow memories and connections to surface.

Landscapes often provide the context but this only serves as a launching structure . From this from the magic begins and the painting unfolds as a dialogue between artist and canvas creating a surface that is unique. The finshed canvases become more abstract, with flowing lines, colour and the suggested references to wilderness, ancient geology or archeology, forests or isolated trees, rivers or pools - nature is the source.
